Heading Out for the Sea Trial

At Initial Haulout and Survey

We were the excited owners of a 2007 Lagoon 420.  She was an owner’s version, never-charted, well-maintained vessel who had but one previous owner. She had an overall length of 42′ and a beam (that’s width for all of you non-sailing folks) of 24’7″.  Her draft (that’s depth below the water line) is 4’3″.  She had three cabins and 3 heads (that’s bathroom’s or toilets). One hull was a dedicated owners suite with owner’s cabin and head.  She had two 38-horsepower inboard Yanmar diesel engines.  We bought her fully equipped and upgraded for a cruising lifestyle.

Beatitude under Sail

Beatitude at anchor at Pelican Cay

How did we arrive at the name of our sailboat? We decided to call her Beatitude because it expresses most clearly our feelings about the opportunity to adopt this lifestyle. While some would never think of doing such a thing, many would love to do so, but feel they are unable for any number of reasons. Beatitude is defined as supremely blessed.  And that we are!

Here is a post in which we show Beatitude’s interior.

We sold our beloved sailing home in June, 2017 to take up a land-based causing lifestyle on our 36′ 5th-wheel RV.
